ANSWERS
What can be automated in a service business?
Most repeated steps between an enquiry and a paid invoice can be automated: replying to new enquiries, sending quotes, booking visits, reminders, follow-ups and moving information between tools. The work itself stays with people; the admin around it doesn’t have to.
Common starting points:
- instant replies to website forms and missed calls
- quote tools that give a price range before a call
- booking confirmations and reminder messages
- follow-ups on quotes that go quiet
- copying job details into your invoicing or accounting tool
- a weekly summary of leads, jobs and revenue
Pick the step that happens most often and annoys you most. If it follows rules you could explain to a new hire, it can usually be automated. If it needs judgment, automate the steps around it and keep a person on the decision. Start with one, measure the time it saves, then pick the next.
